Awk! I'm a senior citizen! (So far, that is.)

I am 31 years old, and I think I ran out of grades a while back icon_wink.gif ; I do have a master's degree.

Or in other words:

31/M/Cleveland, OH (nearest large city).

I'm 25, within a few months of being 26. I live about halfway between Indianapolis and Chicago. The last grade I counted was 12th; but since I spent five years in college, I guess that would make the 17th grade my last.

I had no idea how young the populace was here; I figured most people were mid-20s to mid-30s, with me being on the younger end.

19/F/home's in Lousiana but I'm at college in Iowa right now.

And I'd assumed I was probably one of the youngest posters here too - but then again, I only really had writing skills to go by, and it's probably not surprising that language geeks will tend to have better writing skills than others of their own ages.

Ccauccus, in many online chatrooms people will type "ASL?" as shorthand for "what's your Age, Sex, and Location?" It does not have anything to do with American Sign Language. icon_smile.gif

Speaking of which, am I going to be the only F? I hadn't seen any other obviously female usernames...

Well, that clears up my understanding icon_wink.gif Thanks!

Just curious, but what college do you go to? My cousin once removed or something goes to Iowa University

I'm 20/M/San Francisco, CA. I'm currently taking time off from school. Just about everything I know comes from reading like there's no tomorrow.

It's interesting -- at this point, I'm only involved in two online groups. This one is almost all male, with one or two exceptions. The other is all female, with one exception (me). I haven't drawn any grand conclusions, but it does make for an interesting day of reading and posting.

Well, I don't like admitting either my age or gender; though, my gender is probably, unfortunately guessed by now, I'm not really as epicene myself as I'd like to be. Though occaisionally people online think I'm female, which entertains me.

If pressed, I'd have to admit to being 21/M/Santa Cruz, CA.

For me, so far, everyone's been almost exactly the age I'd pegged them at. With the exception of ranskaldan, who I'm continually astounded by, including that he's only 16.

EDIT: Okay, not doing quite as well anymore now that more are coming in.

I took a few years off from school and read everything in sight and learned lots. Now I'm back in school and can't manage the focus to read as much. icon_confused.gif Instead, today I calculated the deBroglie wavelength and Heisenberg Uncertainty of 220-lb linebacker running at 19.6 ± 0.1 mph. Amusing, but not exactly what I want to be doing with my life.

Any other "older" (over 30) folks? (Apart from Zomp and me, that is.)
I know for sure that there were some older people posting on the original VV Bulletin Board; did anyone stick around?

(Not that we're old--or any "older" than the folks in their 20s. Still...I'm just curious.)

Actually, I caught ranskaldan's age a while back, when he talked about having to take the SATs--but yes, he amazes me too. icon_wink.gif

Well, I was waiting for anyone who was younger that me to post their age first, but here goes. I shall salvage you, Ccaccus.

14/M/Northampton, MA

And in the ninth grade. But I started early; I have been conlanging (and visiting VV) since 1999. I was 11. So don't let my age fool you. I have been around here nearly the whole time (i think... when did you start VV, Mark?)

16 (17 in Feb.) / m / DuBois, Pennsylvania

14/M/Abingdon, Oxfordshire (yeah, the one in England! Big wow!)

I thought I'd be one of the youngest here and I was right. Go fish.

Interesting, it seems that the age group range, as of now, is from 14 to mid 30's.

well this is a message board, so posters can spend as long as they like proofreading and checking reference works. Sometimes, however . . . icon_wink.gif

VV from memory was entirely male . . . at least we an age spread. And hey, tokenism is always good . . .

Anyways, 19/M/Brisbane, Qld. That's accented on the first syllable. Oh, and I picked the age of about everyone here, except possibly for eo, who is a bit on the older side than what I thought (it's your youthful vitality!)

Hopefully it'll display my name...for some reason it doesn't like logging me in at work, but here goes nothing. (Just in case it doesn't dispaly, this is Corvus icon_smile.gif)

28/Male/ Hobart, Tas, Aus.

Being made to feel oldish by all these rugrats icon_wink.gif Its scary to think I've been using computers longer than some of them have been alive.

Aidan, thanks for the geekcode. I've seen it around on mailing lists, but never really found out what it was. Because I'm slighlty geekish I'll throw my code up.

Thanks for Ye Grande Chart above, ranskaldan; I was trying to keep a running total in my head.

And thanks to Aidan for the Geek Code link; now I understand it. I don't think I'm up to posting my own code just yet, however...it might be revealing too much about myself (or, paradoxically, too little, since it doesn't reflect a lot of my interests--you can see a few of those in my profile, however).

Back to work--catch all of you on the flip side. icon_wink.gif
